Pillage revolves around equipment and objectives. In the kit, we've set it up so the Irish have more ranged weapons and a very powerful Danish axe. The Vikings have the numerical advantage, but since they're the ones who have to steal the cattle, the task isn't easy; they'll be taking fire, and that Danish axe can be deadly. The scenarios are designed to balance out that numerical disparity. Plus, this is just an introductory set for learning the ropes. If you want to get into the strategy side of things, you'll need to buy the rulebook and build your own warband.
